Cryptography / Encryption

Lesson 14 of 25

Asymmetric encryption

Asymmetric (public-key) crypto uses a key pair. Anyone can encrypt with your public key, but only your private key can decrypt. This solves the key-sharing problem.

Key points

  • Public key: share freely
  • Private key: never share
  • RSA and elliptic curves are common
