Cryptography / Encryption

Lesson 13 of 25

AES

AES is the world's standard symmetric cipher, with 128 or 256-bit keys. Used properly, in a mode like GCM, it's considered unbreakable today.

Key points

  • AES-256-GCM is a strong choice
  • Never invent your own crypto
  • Use well-tested libraries
from cryptography.fernet import Fernet
key = Fernet.generate_key()
token = Fernet(key).encrypt(b"secret")
