Computer & Online Safety Basics / Staying safe online
Lesson 14 of 30
Two-factor authentication
2FA asks for something you know (password) and something you have (a code from an app or a security key). Even if your password leaks, an attacker still can't get in without the second factor.
Key points
- Authenticator apps are safer than SMS codes
- Security keys are the strongest option
- Never read a 2FA code out to anyone who calls you
